Jhumki has made a smashing entry in Sasural Simar Ka, shocking Simar and the audience both out of their wits. But if there’s one thing that we’re not complaining about, that is Avika Gor’s new look in her role as Jhumki. We decode the look for you.
Jhumki plays a ‘banjaaran’ in the show, who earns her livelihood as a street performer. And to do full justice to the role, Avika is seen wearing a lot of oxidized silver jewellery. The silver necklace, maang tika and of course, the ‘jhumkis’ are part of her everyday look. She also wears a silver pendant of Radha-Krishna, whom she talks to for some divine guidance.
After the jewellery, come the bindi and the hair. Jhumki keeps it simple with a side plait adorned with parandis and an orange bindi painted on her forehead. She has also framed her eyes and chin with the small dots that complete the gypsy look.
Moving on to her clothes, she teams a mirrored choli in a popping colour with a bandhni dupatta which offsets the bright choli. And incidentally, the bandhni dupatta is Avika’s favourite part of the outfit, as she loves the traditional garment.
What’s a dancer without her kalidar ghagra? Jhumki dresses up in a solid orange full length ghagra with a mirrored hemline. Apart from making Jhumki look stunning, it also adds that extra zing to her performance as she twirls for her admirers, don’t you think?
We think Jhumki loves her jewellery too much. That’s why apart from all the trinkets embellishing her face, she also wears matching arm bands, a cummerbund, heavy silver cuff bracelet, and of course, lots of finger rings.
Phew! A lot of work seems to have gone into the making of Jhumki and she is all set to rock the stage with her new look in Sasural Simar Ka. What do you think of Jhumki’s new guise? Let us know in the comments section below.
