Today is 21 June; the World Music Day.
Music is food to the soul, gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything else, so said Plato.
Such is the power of music that one can’t imagine life without it.
And what is similar between music and monsoon? They both go hand-in-hand. Over the years, Bollywood has churned innumerable numbers of rain songs depicting romance, togetherness, love and joy.
So, on this musically relevant day, we got in touch with a few TV celebs and asked them about their favourite rain song/s.
And here is what they said…
Gurmeet Choudhary:
Whenever I see raining, the only song that comes to my mind is Tip Tip Barsa Panifrom Mohra. I still remember when I was young this song had become a huge hit. I also like Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958). It is a cute romantic song featuring Kishore Kumar and Madhubala that was picturised in a garage.

Ragini Khanna:
I simply love international singer Rihanna’s Umbrella number. The song is very soothing and beautiful. From among the several Bollywood songs, I like Rimjhim rimjhim from 1942: A Love Story (1994). Isn’t it a song that creates a perfect romantic ambience?

Vivian Dsena:
Well, I can’t think of any particular rain song. I am a listener of Atif Aslam and Kishoreda. As I am a romantic person, I like listening to romantic songs. For me, a song doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is an open window from where I keep watching the pouring rains sitting beside my better half Vahbbiz with a cup of ginger tea in my hand. This is an ideal moment during monsoons.

Well, it has to be Tip Tip Barsa Pani from the film Mohra, the song is so lyrical and sexy. Otherwise, currently Vivian and I are only listening to songs of Aashiqui 2 especially Tum Hi Ho .

If anyone asks me of my favourite rain song, the only one that strikes me is Rimjhim rimjhim . People will agree with me that it is the most loved song ever. I also like Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si , one of the most unforgettable rain songs till date.

It is Koi Ladki Hai from Dil To Pagal Hai as I love the pairing of Shah Rukh and Madhuri Dixit Nene. It is a very cute and a different kind of a song. Since I am a very romantic person, my other choices would be Bhaage Re Mann from Chameli and Pehla Pehla Pyar Hai from Hum Aapke Hain Koun.

Since music and dance go hand-in-hand, my favourite song is Bezubaan from Remo D’souza’s film ABCD. I also like Mohra’s Tip Tip Barsa Pani and one more song that brings smile on my face is Dekho baarish ho rahi hai… it’s raining it’s raining ….

I like Laga Laga Re from Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya; it’s a nice peppy and groovy song. And I can’t forget my last year’s rain sequence in Pavitra Rishta which had a song ofShirt Da Button from Kya Super Kool Hain Hum. Though the song is not about rains, but whenever I think of baarish, it is only that song that comes in my mind.
