Srishty Rode is quite excited about her new Zee TV show Punar Vivah - Ek Nayi Umeed (Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt Ltd).
“It has just been more than a week and the response has been exceptional. The audience has already started connecting with the new storyline,” she quips.
However, Srishty also does concede that since this is “part two” of a very popular show, the public will take some time before they forget the old lot of actors and accept the new ones. “There is also a lot of responsibility on us to match up to the high standards of the first part,” Srishty avers.
So have you seen season 1 of Punar Vivah? “Well, it is more of a different chapter that I would follow initially but then I could not continue to do so due to time constraints,” she concludes.
Talking about her character Srishty says, “Sarita is a very strong woman who has umpteen shades. She is a housewife who is simple in her looks, but not in her actions. She is nice to those who are good to her but gives it back to those who torment or ignore her e.g. her sasu ma, husband and Raj. She is not negative, but a normal woman who reacts to situations.”
Srishty bats for the second marriage which is the concept of this show. Here too, this single girl adds a caveat that a lot depends on circumstances. “If a partner dies, everybody must get a second chance but I don’t approve of cheating,” she rues.
This Mumbai-born and educated girl has been quite lucky to get different roles in her short career.“I began in 2011 with a youth comedy Yeh Ishq Haaye on Star One. After that I went on to do a historical in Shobha Somnath Ki, (Zee TV) in which I played warrior princess. Now, I am playing a not so normal housewife who does not cry 24*7. I am blessed to have got lots of chance to showcase my versatility,” Srishty maintains.
Looking ahead she says, “I am open to doing more challenging stuff as and when the opportunities arises.”
